Do you remember a time I used to stay up all night

Sitting at the kitchen table just awaiting daylight

Something was wrong, something wasn't right

I must have given you a terrible fright

​

You handled things well, better than anyone might

I owe you my life, you helped me win that fight

​

Some things have changed, I haven't lost sight

I am not in the darkness, and life seems so bright

​

I'm not up all night, my mind I don't fight, life is alright

And I have gained inspiration to write

​

There will always be great words written in ink

Inspirational words that will make us think

​

I am writing a story so beautiful and true

When it's finished, the first copy is for you

​

After you read it , pass it on to others to read 

Together we'll give others hope and inspire them indeed

There's a Poet in the Basement, you just might know his name,

No he didn't go to Hollywood, he went on to other fame

​

It's a new beginning, I'm not nearly done
